Our Background and Philosophy as Custom Home Builders

EBS co-owner Wayne English has a construction background that spans over 25 years, originally learning conventional building methods by working in a successful family-owned construction business, A.J. Marchetto construction, in the Berkshires for several years. English also owned a successful timber frame building company in southern New Jersey, where he designed and built his own high-posted Cape as well as other timber frames for satisfied customers. He and his wife Donna relocated to Western Massachusetts in the year 2000 in order to be closer to his family.

When Wayne decided to become a modular home builder he used what he learned from his 20 years of manufacturing experience in the aerospace industry as a Sr. Quality Engineer and as a Lean Six-Sigma Black Belt together with his knowledge of construction to evaluate Modular Home manufacturers. That evaluation led Wayne ultimately to choose Epoch Homes. EBS is a registered member of the Bonded Builders Home Warranty Association (BBHWA), which places our company among an elite group of Massachusetts builders that have demonstrated a commitment to quality construction and homeowner satisfaction. Every New England modular home we build comes with a full 10 year structural warranty.

The BBHWA underwriting investigation is quite rigorous, and only certain builders qualify. A modular home builder’s participation in the home warranty program is voluntary, and is a win-win-win situation: good for the modular home builder, good for the buyer, and good for the building industry.

EBS is also a member of the Home Builders Association Of Western Massachusetts, and a member of the Timber Framers guild.

We start with the design process, creating a unique plan based upon your needs. Using the latest in Computer Assisted Design (CAD) 3D graphic technology, EBS can help make your ideas a reality. Whether it is a Colonial, Saltbox, Cape, Split, Ranch, Garrison, Contemporary, or great room addition, our experience and creativity with state-of-the-art CAD allows us to create a precise 3D rendering of your floor plans and home. We can make modifications throughout the design process and show you exactly how your changes will appear in the end product. Once the design is refined and perfected, you can take a virtual tour of your home! You save the time and expense of an architect. As an additional service EBS offers design reviews of any plans by Design Basics one of the nation’s largest designers of residential homes. Design Basics plan reviews include a detailed review of the plan for incorporation of design principles found in their trademarked Woman-Centric-Matters! homes designs.
