Timber Frame RaisingThese picture are from the raising of the timber frame great room. The timber frame was cut by Architectural Timber and Millworks from a design by Wayne English. The timbers are white oak finished with Dannish Oil. The rasing and enclosure with stress skin panels by Foard Panel was managed by EBS and performed by a cross company team consisting of personnel from: EBS, Architectural Timber and Millworks, Larry Hansen Construction, and Springfield Steel Erectors. The South bent is raised shortly after noon.
Jeff from Architectural Timber and Millworks headed down the ladder just after placing the ridge purlin. Larry from Larry Hansen construction after having just guided the ridge purlin into the North bent. Jeff awaits the final roof purlin. Jeff looks on as Larry drives the final purlin into the North bent mortise. With the timber frame raising complete the crew sets the stress skin panels on the roof of the timber frame great room. Larry gudies the panel while Jeff and Richard nudge the panel into final position and secure it to the timber frame purlins and rafters with 11" screws. The set crew, less Wayne English taking the picture, from the left, Richard, Larry, Jeff, and John. |
